The first official pics of the new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet have been released, showing more than just the wind deflector, or Aircap. This very photogenic cabrio has a range of other technical innovations, in addition to this amazing little piece of technology.

The wind can be deflected another 20 cm higher, making the E-Class perfect for a luxury cabriolet, seating four passengers in comfort. As an option, you can also have the Airscarf, creating warm air on the neck for cold weather open-top driving. “Easy Entry” technology lets the front seats forward for rear passengers to get in and out, and the electric roof can be activated in 20 seconds, up to a car speed of 40 km/hr.

The soft roof has saved on weight and boot space, which has a capacity of 390 litres with the roof up, less 90 litres when it’s down. The engine range of the cabrio is similar to that of the E-Class coupe with the E 200 CGI 1.8-litre turbo with 184 hp, and the E 250 CGI 5.5-litre V8 with 388 hp. Among the diesel options is the 2.1-litre E 220 CDI with 170 hp, the 2.1-litre E 250 CDI with 204 hp, and the 3.0-litre V6 E 350 CDI with 231 hp.
