On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. Several of you recognized that this week’s shifter belonged to an early Aston Martin, however the first commenter to correctly identify it as an Aston Martin DB6 was Kurt Blose, who will receive a Save the Manuals magnet and sticker as a reward.
This particular DB6 is from the cover of our July 1966 issue and it attracted quite a bit of attention. That car was optioned with the more powerful Vantage engine, which added 43 hp to the DB6′s standard 282, bringing total output to 325 hp. Our DB6 featured a ZF-sourced five-speed manual—obviously—but a Borg-Warner Model 8 automatic also was available as an option.
